DUO SHOW- TSAÁ GALLERY, LOWER EAST SIDE- NYC June 17th - July2nd 2023

Visiting Artist Mado Todd-Morel

Tsaá NYC is pleased to announce Visiting Artist Mado Todd-Morel’s new series of ink and watercolor paintings inspired by her journey in South East Asia, Exploring themes of beauty, playfulness, truth and awareness through the artists multifaceted practice that spans painting, design, graphic design and the culinary arts. To accompany her exhibition, the artist created series of pastries that are a melange of both French and South East Asian flavors.

Nature's spark ignites my creativity, infusing my art with a profound appreciation for forms, colors, and the fluid transparency of interpretation. Inspired by the beauty that surrounds me, I shape my creations, harmoniously transposing the intricate layers of our environment into soothing works of art. Whether I’m immersed in worldly travels or finding solace in the embrace of my garden, my brush is a faithful companion, capturing the organic essence that unfolds before me. Guided by the interplay of light, movement, and texture, my artistic journal comes to life, preserving the ephemeral moments of nature's allure. The sensual beauty of the natural world dances with the playful cadence of my brushstrokes. Each creation becomes a vibrant ‘carnet de voyage’ immersing you in evocation landscapes. The essence of nature cores alive on my canvas, as I Infuse each stroke with the sensual movement that playfully dances through a sort of artistic travel diary.

My work explores the harmonious relationship between nature, art, and the profound emotions they awaken within us. Through my works, I aspire to evoke tranquility, awaken your senses, and ignite a deeper appreciation for the innate beauty that surrounds us.” -Mado Todd-Morel, 2023

Accompanying this series is a collection of new sculptures by Goldie Poblador, one of the founding members of Tsaá NYC.

The iris, the national flower of France opens its petals to reveal a hand carrying a drop of pollen. This piece was based on The Flowers Personified by J.J Grandville, originally printed in French in the 19th century. The Pansy, which is said to be the first flower to share its message with man is depicted in a joyous manner.

The Lily of the Valley, an important ingredient in Diorissimo, an iconic French perfume worn by Princess Diana is a flower that symbolizes innocence. Upon closer inspection an entwined stem strangles a small female figure. The scent of this flower can be sensed in its natural form, yet needs to be recreated artificially in perfumery. I see this as a parallel on how innocence is seen as a virtue in women, but is actually an artificial construct.

My Self Portrait as a Weed, Is a comment on how weeds tend to be overlooked. Yet, they are robust, resilient and survive in the urban jungles of New York City, just like immigrants do. You can try to pull them out but they will survive and they just might grow stronger because of it" -Goldie Poblador, 2023

Bruma

DUO SHOW- COLLECTOR’S GALLERY, PARIS - 5EME - December 2023

Join us at the cusp of revelation and obscurity with "Bruma”. This exhibition, named after the Latin word for fog, invites you into a world where clarity and mystery dance in a delicate balance of artistic expression.
